How Chirpie and Postiz differ

Start with where it runs. Postiz is AGPL-3.0 software you can host on your own servers, and its cloud plans run the same application, so the choice there is about who does the operations work. Chirpie is hosted only and cannot be self-hosted. After that, Postiz is the broader scheduler (34 platforms, a drag-and-drop calendar, team seats, AI media credits), and Chirpie is the narrower API for agents and scripts, with comment replies, all-or-nothing threads and retry-safe requests.[3][4][2]

Choose Postiz if

  • Your data has to stay on your own infrastructure. Postiz says its cloud runs the same open-source application you can host yourself, and that the difference is who does the work, not the feature set. Chirpie is hosted only.[3]

  • Self-hosting has no licence fee, but Postiz's own platform table marks 24 of the 34 platforms as needing a developer app you register yourself when self-hosted.[4]
  • Postiz Cloud caps channels and Chirpie meters posts, so Postiz is the cheaper hosted option once you pass about 10 accounts, and more so at high volume.[1]

Chirpie and Postiz: common questions

Can I use Chirpie from Claude instead of running Postiz?

Yes. Chirpie is listed in the Claude Connectors Directory, so a Claude user adds it from the listing, signs in and asks Claude to post. ChatGPT developer mode and Cursor connect to https://chirpie.ai/mcp the same way. There is no server to install or keep updated.

Can I self-host Postiz instead of paying for it?

Yes. Postiz is AGPL-3.0 on GitHub with Docker Compose as the recommended install, and a self-hosted install has no plan limits. The cost moves to your time: hosting, upgrades, and a developer app you register with each network for most platforms. Chirpie cannot be self-hosted at all.

Is Chirpie cheaper than Postiz Cloud?

At small sizes, yes. Chirpie is free for 50 posts a month and $19 a month for 3 accounts, against $29 a month for 5 channels on Postiz Cloud. At 10 accounts Postiz Team costs $39 a month with unlimited posts, less than Chirpie's $49 a month Pro plan, and the gap widens from there.

Are Postiz's 34 platforms comparable to Chirpie's list?

Partly. Postiz's count includes blogs (Medium, Dev.to, Hashnode, WordPress), a newsletter tool, chat servers such as Discord and Slack, and communities such as Lemmy and Skool, and it lists Instagram and LinkedIn twice each (two connection types). Chirpie has 8 live today: X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Threads, Mastodon, Instagram, Facebook and Telegram. Both products cover Mastodon, Bluesky and Telegram.

Which one lets an agent reply to comments?

Chirpie does, on X, Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon, Instagram and Facebook: its API lists a post's comments and replies to one, and the same actions are MCP tools. Postiz's own agent documentation says its agent cannot read or reply to comments on your posts, though Postiz can publish a first comment as part of a post.
