Best social media APIs for AI agents

Six products that let an agent publish to social platforms through an API or MCP server. We make one of them. We have tried to write the page we wanted to read before we started — sourced, unflattering where it should be, and clear about when someone else is the better buy.

Figures verified against each vendor's own pricing pages, as of September 2026. The pricing units are not directly comparable — see each comparison page for the maths at 1, 3 and 10 accounts.

01

Ayrshare

Pricing
From $149/mo per social profile. No free tier.
Platforms
14 networks, including WhatsApp
MCP
First-party Action MCP, 27 tools

The most mature multi-tenant option. Profiles, sub-profiles and client-linking URLs are built for reselling, and the surface area goes well past posting into comments, DMs, ads and creator data. The entry price is the highest here, and a second account on the same network pushes you from $149 to $299.

02

Postiz

Pricing
From $29/mo for 5 channels. Free to self-host (AGPL-3.0).
Platforms
34, counting blogs, Discord, Slack and Nostr
MCP
First-party MCP, 11 tools, on every paid tier

The strongest open-source option by some distance — AGPL-3.0, 35k GitHub stars, and the maintainers state there is no feature gap between cloud and self-hosted. Posts are unmetered on every tier. Self-hosting is genuinely free but you register your own developer app for roughly 22 of the 34 platforms, which is real work.

03

Zernio

Pricing
First 2 accounts free, then $6/account/mo (graduated).
Platforms
16 per their homepage
MCP
Hosted MCP, several hundred tools, OAuth 2.1 + PKCE

Formerly called Late (getlate.dev). The broadest scope on this list: publishing, analytics, DMs, review management and unified paid ads across seven networks. Posts are unmetered and the first two accounts cost nothing. Watch one line — X API usage is passed through at X's own rates on top of the account fee.

04

post-bridge

Pricing
From $29/mo for 5 accounts. REST API is a $5/mo add-on.
Platforms
9
MCP
Included on every tier, including the cheapest

Unlimited posts on every plan, unlimited accounts at $99, plus bulk video scheduling and a content studio. Notably, MCP is included on the $29 plan while the REST API costs $5 extra — check which one your integration needs. Analytics is labelled beta and starts at the $39 tier.

05

Blotato

Pricing
From $29/mo for 20 social accounts. API and MCP need a paid plan.
Platforms
9
MCP
Hosted MCP, 35 tools

Really a different category: AI writing, image generation, video generation and ElevenLabs voiceovers, with distribution attached. Credits are spent on generation, never on publishing. Twenty accounts on the $29 plan is the best account-count value here. Analytics covers 8 of 9 platforms — LinkedIn returns no metrics.

06

Chirpie

That's us
Pricing
Free for 50 posts/mo. $9 Agent, $19 Starter, $49 Pro.
Platforms
8 live, 6 more coming soon
MCP
Hosted at chirpie.ai/mcp, on every plan including free

Ours, so read this with appropriate suspicion. Chirpie is the narrowest product here — publishing, scheduling and analytics through an API, SDK, CLI and MCP, with no content generation, no DMs, no ads, and no self-hosting. What it has that the others do not is a free tier that includes full API and MCP access, so an agent can post before anyone enters card details. Above ten accounts, Postiz and post-bridge are cheaper and we would point you there.

How to actually choose

Start with the unit you are billed on. This is the single thing that decides cost, and every product here picks a different one. If you have a few accounts posting a lot, per-account pricing wins. If you have many accounts posting occasionally, per-post pricing wins. Headline prices tell you almost nothing until you know which shape you are.

Then check scope. Publishing is the easy part. DMs, comment moderation, paid ads, and AI generation are where these products genuinely diverge, and adding one of them later usually means changing vendor rather than changing plan.

Treat MCP support as table stakes, not a feature. Every product on this list shipped one. What differs is how many tools it exposes and whether it is gated behind a paid plan. A large tool surface helps if you need the breadth and hurts if you are trying to keep an agent predictable.

If X is a major channel, price it separately. X charges $0.200 for every post containing a link, and some vendors pass that straight through to you while others absorb it. That one line can exceed the subscription. Our X API pricing calculator will give you the number.

Common questions

What is the best social media API for AI agents?

It depends on what the agent needs to do. For reselling to end clients, Ayrshare's multi-tenant profile model is the most mature. For self-hosting, Postiz is the only serious open-source option. For DMs, comments and paid ads alongside publishing, Zernio has the broadest scope. For AI content generation, Blotato. For high-volume creator publishing, post-bridge. Chirpie is the narrowest — publishing only — but is the only one whose free tier includes full API and MCP access.

Which social media APIs have an MCP server?

All six covered here ship a first-party MCP server, as of September 2026. Ayrshare's Action MCP exposes 27 tools, Postiz 11, Blotato 35, and Zernio several hundred with OAuth 2.1. post-bridge includes MCP on every tier. Chirpie hosts one at chirpie.ai/mcp. MCP support is no longer a differentiator in this category — pricing model and scope are.

Is there a free social media posting API?

Chirpie's free plan includes 50 posts a month with full API and MCP access. Zernio's first two connected accounts are free with unmetered posting. Postiz can be self-hosted free under AGPL-3.0, though you must register developer apps with each network yourself. Ayrshare, post-bridge and Blotato have trials rather than free plans.

Why do these products' prices look so different?

Because they meter different things, and the units are not directly comparable. Ayrshare charges per tenant profile, Postiz and post-bridge per connected channel, Zernio per account on a graduated scale, Blotato per plan with AI credits, and Chirpie per post volume. A workload that looks cheap on one model can be expensive on another, so compare against your actual shape rather than the headline number.

How current is this comparison?

Every figure was verified against the vendors' own pricing and documentation pages in September 2026, and each page links its sources. Pricing in this category changes often. Check the linked source before making a decision, and tell us if you find something out of date.
