Pinterest API for AI agents

How Chirpie lets an AI agent publish Pinterest pins from one API call or an MCP tool, with an image, a title and scheduling.

Updated October 2026

How do you use the Pinterest API from an AI agent?

Connect a Pinterest account to Chirpie, then send one request with an image and a short text, or ask your agent in Claude or ChatGPT. Chirpie turns the text into the pin's title and description, uploads the image, and pins it to your board, so the agent never handles Pinterest's OAuth or its pin format itself.

Pinterest is coming soon to Chirpie.

What Chirpie does on Pinterest

  • Publishes a pin: one image, with the post's text as both the title and the description.
  • Pins to your board: the board chosen for the connected account, so a request never has to name one.
  • Schedules pins: a future schedule_at queues the pin, and Chirpie publishes it within about five minutes of that time.
  • Deletes pins: deleting the post in Chirpie removes the pin from Pinterest too.
  • Checks media first: one image per pin, a photo format, up to 20 MB. Anything else is refused with unsupported_media before Pinterest is called.

How the connection works

You sign in with Pinterest and approve Chirpie, from the dashboard or by asking your agent to connect the account. Chirpie stores the tokens encrypted and refreshes them on its own, so a scheduled pin still publishes weeks later. The account then appears in GET /api/v1/accounts with an id your requests name as account_id.

Post from code

curl -X POST https://chirpie.ai/api/v1/posts \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer chirpie_sk_YOUR_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "account_id": "YOUR_PINTEREST_ACCOUNT_ID",
    "text": "Ten-minute weeknight pasta",
    "media_urls": ["https://example.com/pasta.jpg"],
    "schedule_at": "2026-11-02T18:00:00Z"
  }'
import { ChirpieClient } from "@chirpie/sdk";

const chirpie = new ChirpieClient({ apiKey: process.env.CHIRPIE_API_KEY });

await chirpie.createPost({
  account_id: "YOUR_PINTEREST_ACCOUNT_ID",
  text: "Ten-minute weeknight pasta",
  media_urls: ["https://example.com/pasta.jpg"],
});

You can also upload the image first with Media and attach it by id. Every field is in the Posts API reference.

Post from Claude or ChatGPT

Chirpie is listed in the Claude Connectors Directory, so in Claude you add it from the listing and sign in. In ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client you add https://chirpie.ai/mcp. Then ask in plain language:

  • "Pin this photo of the new menu with the title 'Autumn menu is here'."
  • "Schedule a pin of each of these three recipe photos, one a day at 6pm."

Setup for each assistant is in Use Chirpie with Claude and the MCP Server page.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Pinterest pin need an image?

Yes. Pinterest has no text-only pins, so every Chirpie post to Pinterest carries exactly one image. A post without one is refused before anything is sent.

Which board does the pin go to?

The board chosen for the connected Pinterest account. You do not name a board on each request.

How long can the text be?

The post's text becomes both the pin's title and its description, and Pinterest limits a title to 100 characters, so keep the text within 100 characters.

Can I schedule pins?

Yes. Add a future schedule_at to the post and Chirpie publishes the pin at that time, the same way it schedules a post on any other network.

Can I delete a pin through Chirpie?

Yes. DELETE /api/v1/posts/{id} removes the pin from Pinterest, and Chirpie keeps its own record of the post marked deleted.
